Community Food Security and Livelihood Support

By zake a tumwesigye | project leader

Through the “Help Us Make an Impact! by Feeding the Needy” initiative, we have continued to make positive progress in supporting vulnerable households within the community. As part of this effort, we supplied community members with seeds and provided free organic manure collected from our cows. This support has enabled families to establish and maintain home gardens.

As a result, many households are now growing their own crops, which is contributing to improved food availability at the household level. This initiative is helping to reduce hunger, lower food expenses, and promote selfreliance within the community. In addition, the use of organic manure encourages environmentally friendly and sustainable farming practices.

Challenges Encountered

Despite this progress, we continue to face several challenges:

  • Limited resources restrict the number of households we can support with seeds and manure.
  • Some community members still lack adequate farming tools and water access to fully benefit from home gardening.
  • Rising food needs within the community increase demand for continued support.
Next Steps

Moving forward, we plan to:

  • Expand seed and organic manure distribution to reach more households.
  • Strengthen community awareness on sustainable farming and food production.
  • Seek additional support and partnerships to ensure the continuity and growth of the initiative.
  • Integrate agricultural support with feeding programs to support the most vulnerable families.
