Yi-Yi Found A Forever Home After 355 Days Waiting

By Amy Wei | Project Planning Specialist

Yi-Yi's biological mother is very young, and there was no one else in the family who could take care of Yi-Yi. She worried that she would not be able to provide Yi-Yi with a good care for her life. Therefore, she had gone through frequent discussions with the CWLF’s social worker, conducted many evaluations, and finally decided to put Yi-Yi up for adoption, hoping Yi-Yi would grow up in a more stable environment.

The nanny accompanies Yi-Yi grows stronger, helping her practice moving her limbs, visit the doctors, and explore the world! Yi-Yi is a curious kid who is very interested in different sounds and textures. For example, when she sees the plastic packaging of wet wipes or diapers, she wants to touch it and listen to the sounds it makes. Additionally, Yi-Yi especially enjoys listening to English songs. Every time she hears the melody, she shakes her body and even claps her hands!

After long waiting, Yi-Yi finally met her new parents with a lot of different variety toys they brought. Yi-Yi’s  new mother is good at chatting and playing with Yi-Yi, which helps Yi-Yi relax a lot. The new parents work together and divide tasks. While the nanny hands over caring details and items to the new mother, the new father takes Yi-Yi for walks. Finally, Yi-Yi, and her new parents, and the nanny took a photo to say goodbye.

Thank you to every donor who supported Yi-Yi on her journey to find her forever home. With everyone’s love and blessings, Yi-Yi will grow up well.

During January 2024 to August 2024, the Child Welfare League Foundation received 166 consultation calls regarding "giving up for adoption." We discussed with families how to find a better future for their children and how to continue caring for them. There were also 441 consultation calls about "adoption," helping more people learn about and understand how adoption services work.

There were 4 new cases of children were being put up for adoption within these 8 months. We totally provided 4,544 adoption services, 20 children hadfinalized adoptions by the court. For now, there are 39 childrenhad entered trial placements with adoption families, and 31 children were still seeking a permanent home. We thank all the donors, and the Child Welfare League Foundation continues to improve our adoption services, hoping that every child can have a secure, warm, and stable home.
