This summer (June, July, August) our organization provided Lithuanian children with cancer and their families with a financial assistance of 9816.91 euros (11193.24 USD). The support was appointed to compensate medication, nursing, Maximilian’s treatment abroad and fulfilling the dreams of ill children. Global Giving donors helped as well donating 109.63 euros (125 USD (109.63).
We bought non-reimbursable drugs for 10 children with cancer: Rusne, Arija, Rimvydas, Alina, Evelina, Roma, Milana, Timotis, Jevgenij and Austeja. The medication was extremely strong and intended to help with mouth ulcers, scars, fungal infection, etc.
Every week of each summer month we have been bringing various nursing items (diapers, wipes, cleansers) to Vilnius and Kaunas hospitals. During these 3 months we have given away around 100 packages of diapers and around 80 packs of wet wipes to families who have kids with cancer. We have been also bringing drinking water, colorful plasters, cleansers and bottles of liquid soup. The value of all the items was approximately 2000 euros.
In addition, our summer months were busy with therapy events, which we have been organizing every week for ill kids and their parents in Vilnius and Kaunas hospitals. Chna tattoos for kids, kite-making and drawing on silk workshops are just a few events to be mentioned. These joyful meetings were our intention to create a relaxing environment and even just for a while help to forget the illness the children and their families are dealing with.
Because good emotions have such a positive effect on the condition of ill kids, we have fulfilled the dreams of Gustas, Lukrecija, Guoda, Austeja, Kamile, Armandas, Deimante, Alina, Nedukas, Aušra, Justas, Dominykas and Roma. We celebrated 44 birthdays of kids who have cancer and who were staying at hospitals in Vilnius or Kaunas. The value of all the fulfilled dreams (presents) was around 3000 euros.
We keep supporting the treatment of a 3-year-old Maximilian in the clinics of Switzerland. The boy was diagnosed with eye cancer (retinoblastoma) and there are no opportunities to treat this type of cancer in Lithuania. We supported the trips to the clinics during the three months, which cost 2562,63 euros. The latest news about the boy’s condition are happy and promising! He is quickly regaining eyesight.
Our foundation has started taking care of a 3-year-old Danielius. His father, who is temporarily unemployed, looks after him and his 8 sisters and brothers. Thus, we assisted the family with 430 euros to support Daniel’s treatment and the family’s basic living expenses.
We work so that childrens’ journey fighting the illness would be as easy as possible and offering hope. Thank you all who support us and help doing good deeds!
