SILVIJA
Little Silvija, who is under the care of the Mothers' Union, has just celebrated her third birthday, and we would like to congratulate her once again!
At the beginning of summer, the girl went for another eye check-up with Swiss doctors. Every family trip is filled with anxiety, concern, and bright hope.
We share a letter from Silvija's mother Ieva:
"In the middle of the first month of summer, we set off for a treatment visit to the Jules-Gonin Eye Hospital in Lausanne. Switzerland welcomed us with cooler weather, but the clinic staff did not change at all - as always, Silvija was kindly welcomed by the caring and warm-hearted nurses of the department.
Before the examination with anesthesia, all preparatory work was carefully carried out: temperature, height and weight were measured, and we were asked how well the recommendations before anesthesia were followed. Every time, the evening before the examination, we receive precise instructions on when the child can eat, drink liquids or water, so upon arrival at the clinic, we always check whether they were followed. These recommendations are very important in order to avoid possible complications after anesthesia.
Before the examination, Silvija underwent a vision test, and we received new "homework" that will help strengthen and develop her vision.
After the examination we met with the doctor who became our hope for all of us – Christina Stathopoulos. The news was good – Silvija’s condition remains stable.
Waking up from anesthesia was quick, but it took some time for her mood to stabilize. For a while Silvija was very upset and cried non-stop in her father’s arms. However, all this pales in comparison to the news we are bringing home.
This is like a pre-wrapped gift for Silvija on her third birthday. And this is the greatest gift you can receive – a stable condition, hope and the opportunity to enjoy each new day.
Thank you to everyone who is traveling this path with us, supporting, interested and sending good thoughts. Your support means a lot to us."
We wish Silvija and her family the most beautiful summer days, enjoying the pleasures of the warm season and taking full handfuls of nature’s gifts.
