The terrible war is ongoing in Ukraine. Russian invaders bomb cities, hospitals and homes, killing civilians without remorse. Ukrainian kids with cancer and other critical diagnoses, especially those evacuated from frontline areas, displaced or who have lost parents to the war, are more vulnerable than most in such a situation. They need medicines, medical supplies, a safe place to stay and food to survive, as well as emotional relief and care that goes beyond treatment.
The war that began with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, is not only taking civilian lives. It is also taking away children's chance to receive life-saving treatment. For children with cancer and other critical diagnoses, disrupted care can mean reduced chances of survival and fewer opportunities to recover and enjoy a healthy, fulfilling life after treatment.
This project will help children with cancer and other critical diagnoses continue treatment despite the challenges of war, focusing especially on children evacuated from frontline areas, displaced by the war or affected by the loss of family members. It will provide medicines, medical supplies, nutritious food, a safe place to stay for children and their families, and psychological support. The project will help give these children the best possible chance to survive and recover.
Our ultimate goal is to ensure that children in Ukraine receive the best medical care possible during wartime, increasing their chances of survival and helping them achieve a good quality of life after treatment.
