Safety in the Wild: Why First Aid Training Matters

Dear friends and supporters,

We would like to share another update on our First Aid Training project and thank you for continuing to follow and support this important initiative.

Although we have received some contributions towards our fundraising goal, we have not yet secured sufficient funds to proceed with the planned certified first aid training. We remain hopeful that, with the continued support of our GlobalGiving community, we will be able to raise the remaining funds and make this training a reality.

As we continue our research and fieldwork activities in Botswana, the importance of having a team equipped with essential first aid skills remains clear. Our research camp is situated within the Makgadikgadi National Park, and the camp itself is unfenced, meaning we live and work in an environment where we are constantly surrounded by wildlife. Unexpected situations and emergencies can arise at any time. The nearest village clinic is approximately 15 minutes away, but it is not always open or adequately stocked with the medical supplies needed to provide assistance. Access to proper medical facilities is therefore limited, making the ability to respond quickly and appropriately in an emergency especially important. Having trained individuals on site could make a significant difference while waiting for further medical assistance.

While we are still working towards our fundraising target, we are grateful to everyone who has already contributed and helped bring us closer to achieving this goal. We kindly encourage you to continue supporting and sharing our campaign. Every donation, regardless of its size, helps us take another step towards ensuring that our staff, researchers, volunteers and the communities we work alongside are better prepared when emergencies arise.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for your continued belief in our work.

With gratitude,

The EfA Team
