Laughter Heroes

By Natalie Lazaris | Head of Fundraising

Laughter Hero's in paediatric wards, are performers trained to work specifically in healthcare settings, particularly with children. Their primary goal is to provide emotional support and entertainment to pediatric patients, helping to reduce anxiety, fear, and stress related to hospitalization or medical procedures.

Laughter Hero’s help distract children from pain or discomfort during medical procedures by engaging them with jokes, magic tricks, or playful interactions. Their presence can make the hospital environment less intimidating and create a sense of normalcy for children undergoing stressful treatments.

Laughter Hero’s often engage not only with the children but also with families and medical staff, creating a positive atmosphere that can improve communication and collaboration. They may build strong emotional bonds with long-term patients, helping to support the child and their family through difficult times.

Laughter Hero’s programs have become a well-established part of pediatric care in many countries, combining entertainment with a therapeutic approach to help children cope with the emotional and physical challenges of illness.
