Project Report | Jul 1, 2022
Sparkles Jabulani and Jumpy Jabulani.

By Natalie Lazaris | Project Manager

Definition: Jabulani means ‘Happiness or Rejoice.

Reach For a Dream, we believe that spreading hope and joy is the best medicine, especially for our dreamers. Imagine a world without smiles, laughter and play. The Foundation provides an entertainer to visit the children who are hospital bound. The foundation believes in the therapeutic benefits of humor in improving the health and wellbeing of children fighting life threating illnesses.

To date the programme has conducted 445 visits in hospitals across South Africa. Our Jabulani Kingdom therapeutic clowns ensure that more than 40,000 children in hospital receive the physical and emotional healing to support their healing process. Medical and hospital staff have verified that the presence of clowns in a hospital has a positive effect on children.

If laughter is the best medicine, then it is perhaps fitting that new research suggests clowns should be the people to administer it. Scientists found that children and teenagers receiving treatment for acute or chronic conditions improve physically and emotionally after interacting with “clown doctors”.
