Project Report | Jun 7, 2019
Jabulani Kingdom June Feedback 2019

By Chloe Mpinga | Business Development Manger

Dear Friend of The Foundation,

Laughter is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it joins people together and increases happiness and intimacy. Laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body and strengthens the immune system, boosts energy, diminishes pain and protects one from the damaging effects of stress. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free and easy to use.

Jabulani, which is a Zulu word meaning ‘Happiness’ or ‘Rejoice’, is our hospital entertainer programme that brings warmth and cheer to children who are confined to hospital and helps them to forget the life-threatening illnesses which affects them. Many children, both life threatened and non-life threatened are not in a position to leave the hospital ward or hospital premises. They may simply be too sick to get out of bed, or be connected to medical equipment that cannot be moved. More than just a respite from sadness and pain, laughter gives our children the courage and strength to find new sources of meaning and hope. Even in the most difficult of times, a laugh, or even simply a smile, can go a long way towards making them feel better. And laughter really is contagious – just hearing it helps them to smile and join in the fun.

Our Jabulani entertainers are carefully trained to turn pain into chuckles. Using magic, balloons, juggling, unicycles and above all smiles, they visit hospital patients and entertain them. Our Jabulani entertainers are drawn from every sector of society and bring with them love and compassion.

Thanks to your funding we are able to spread joy and laughter across hospital wards.

Kind regards,

Dream Team
