The world is facing unexpected Coronavirus challenge. India will be a country with 1 million confirmed cases in matter of few days and remains one of the worst affected country today. The lockdown in the country has resulted in loss of jobs and income for millions of Indians. ILO recently reported that 400 million workers in India may sink into poverty amid coronavirus pandemic. These difficulties have severe and devastating impact on urban poor, migrant workers and daily-wage labourers who are with non-existent economic buffer or social security or welfare safety net.
Save The Children India through its Anti- trafficking efforts have been working with most vulnerable communities and providing young women with skills training and livelihood opportunities. We are happy to share that Save The Children India continued to provide skills training to young women using digital platforms and pivoted to the trades that have job opportunities in current situations.
The batch of 12 young women were trained in para nursing trades and were placed on job in renowned hospitals offering care and treatment to Covid19 infected and other patients.
We are happy to bring this story to you as we aim at skill trained 3000 young women this year.
Thank you for your support and for being friend of Save The Children India
