This project follows students through their academic careers supporting those who need help at a secondary school level and the same students or others who need help in their college years.
The school age children are excited to receive a scholarship as this ensures another year for them at a school they love. The Professor Yacoobi Private School in Herat is recognized as one of the best in the city. Academic standards are high and there are many supplemental and extra curricula activities on offer. One special class is the 30 student two year Leadership Course. Last month this class studied democracy and its impact in the development of society. The topics included: pillars of good government, free and independent media, military relations and rights and responsibilities. A lawyer from the Afghan Institute of Learning’s Legal Aid Clinic came to the school and held a workshop for the Leadership Course students. The topics covered included: what is law, amending laws, know the law and prevention of law breaking. Students commented saying, “I enjoyed the workshop and learned a lot and how it is important to know about the laws and especially citizenship laws.”
Thank you for your continued support for these young people which means they are getting a good education at a high quality school.
CHI working towards: SDG Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
