Greetings!
Thank you for your contribution to our project - Fund a classroom for kids in rural Angola. Education is the right of every child. We appreciate that you have joined us, making the opportunity for education available to children who would otherwise not have the opportunity for years to come.
We strive to work as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible to get more schools built, but have needed to raise our project goal to $30,000, the current cost for a classroom in a RISE school. The realities are harsh - Angola's economy is suffering from the significantly lower oil prices, as oil is Angola's largest industry, and the price of materials and supplies in-country continues to rise dramatically.
The cost of a school varies depending on the number of classrooms, which can be from 3 to 8, depending on the number of students in the village, and the needs of the community. Each classroom accommodates about 50 students, and there are generally two shifts a day. The cost is to get the school built, but children will be in those classrooms for the next 25 or 30 years, which breaks down to about $12 per student per year - an amazing return on investment!
We will continue to focus our efforts in bringing the opportunity for education to the children of Angola and we hope that you will continue to support our efforts. Together we can make a difference.
Gratefully,
Debbie Hildebrand
