Historic rainfall devastated Juiz de Fora and Uba in Minas Gerais, causing one of the region's worst disasters. As of Feb 26, 2026 report, 52 people have died in Juiz de Fora, 13 are missing, and over 4,200 are displaced. In Uba, 6 deaths and 2 missing persons were confirmed. Both cities declared a state of calamity. This campaign will fund water, food, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, mattresses, and blankets for affected families, coordinated with official relief efforts.
Since February 23, 2026, the Minas Gerais region (mata) has been impacted by extreme rainfall. Juiz de Fora recorded 733 millimeters of rain in February alone. In Uba, 174 millimeters of rain fell in just three hours, causing the Uba River to rise approximately eight meters and flood large parts of the city. The heavy rains led to river overflows, landslides, collapsed homes, isolated neighborhoods, and the total loss of belongings for thousands of families. This is a real human crisis.
This project will provide immediate relief to families affected by the floods by purchasing and distributing essential items such as water, food, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, mattresses, and blankets. Working in coordination with local authorities, we will prioritize the most vulnerable families, reduce health risks, and help restore safe and dignified living conditions while supporting local economic recovery whenever possible.
The long-term impact of this project includes helping families regain stability and rebuild their lives after the floods. By addressing urgent needs quickly, we reduce prolonged displacement, health risks, and deepening poverty. Supporting home recovery and local purchasing also contributes to community resilience and economic reactivation. This coordinated response strengthens local networks and preparedness for future emergencies.
