Construction of Homes for Flood Affected People

By Nadeem Tahir | Director Fundraising

Al-Mustafa Development Network (ADN) has completed construction of five homes for flood affected vulnerable families of Rajanpur whereas 10 new home have been started. This goal is to construct 65 homes in Basti Kuch Bani (a worst affected village along Sindh River near Rajanpur). ADN has resources for 25 homes whereas funds are requested from donors to contribute more.

More than 1.8 million homes have been damaged in floods. Currently shelter is the biggest problem for the affected communities. Winter is severe and women and children are desperately living in tents and small shelters without adequate arrangements to protect from cold.

It is important to construct better homes as per the sphere standards with adequate flood resistant structures before the next monsoon in August 2011.
