Relief programs in the flood affected areas have been officially ended last month and Early Recovery phase has started. All UN OCHA offices in the flood affected areas have been closed from 15 March 2011 and various committees and groups have been established for early recovery programs. Al-Mustafa Development Network is continuing its efforts for the construction of shelters in Rajanpur area of Punjab. Shelter is still a main problem and out of more than 2 million homes destroyed in the floods, half of those affected are still awaiting for help and support.
Al-Mustafa Development Network has been successful in a project proposal under RAPID Fund of OFDA and will be constructing 150 shelters in Rajanpur for those of extremely vulnerable families in three months.
We are thankful to all donors who supported us to provide shelters for vulnerable families and also helped us to provide safe water, food and education for young kids. We request our donors to continue support for the provision of school bags and small hygiene kits for thousands of children in the Rajanpur area.
