Once again a HUGE thank you to all of you for supporting our cause. Over the last 3 months, we have received $365.24 towards our Fund a Kitchen project. We are definitely heading in the right direction.

BSP Education Society Academic Report

The average attendance of students was 81.5%.

Success Stories

  • Having graduated from high school, one of our students, Sandhya, has completed her 15-month training at HCL Technologies. She is now a software engineer and a full-time employee at HCL Technologies.
  • Another student, Bhavna, participated in a seminar held at Bansthali University in Rajasthan. Being an orphan she has gone through lots of struggles and hardships in her life so far, but we see her developing her own personality and becoming a confident young woman.

Health, Hygiene, and Social Sector

  1. Dr. Taneja conducted health exams and blood tests for 40 students in September and another 25 students in October.
  2. On September 5th our 7th-grade students performed the role of teachers in celebration of Teacher’s Day. They took classes, managed and administered the whole primary section. Students believe that their values, knowledge, and confidence to survive in society are given to them by the teachers, and hence they showed their pride and respect for their teachers.
  3. We celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October with the NBCFDC Team. Mr. Narayna, Managing Director of NBCFDC, and his wife were the chief guests.
  4. We organized an awareness rally on Gandhi Jayanti and Dr. Taneja distributed 100 blankets to the mothers of our students.
  5. Our sewing center sewed 36 uniforms for another school
  6. We conducted a village door to door meeting, where our school team visited the students in their homes. It was a surprise visit for the students on a Sunday to observe them with their parents in their homes and to see values taught at school in action.
  7. Diya Foundation provided school bags for our students. Approximately 70 students benefited. These are specially designed bags that have a slate with a stand, which makes it comfortable to place on the floor as a table.

Academics

  1. Village Exhibition - Our 6th and 7th-grade students constructed and displayed models of their dream villages. Facilities like hospitals, electricity, schools, proper roads, etc were all part of them.
  2. The primary wing teachers underwent training to improve their quarterly planning, their advance learning objectives, as well as their planned activities.
  3. 97% of our students prepared and appeared for their midterm exams in 2019
  4. Diwali was celebrated by all the teachers and students in the school. The students performed the Laxmi puja.
  5. A salad competition and poster competition were conducted to bring forth the student’s creativity.
  6. Upon completion of the syllabus, a unique approach was introduced in preparation for the BOARD exams. The teacher writes 5-6 questions to be attempted within 45-60 minutes. Then the teacher gives the answers and the students grade themselves according to their understanding. Finally, the teacher corrects them again. This practice will continue leading to final exams.
  7. We started a mathematics base-line assessment through activities in all of our primary classes. Our main focus is to see if students are able to relate what they are studying in math in school to their real life.
  8. Audio/Video classes have been proving to be a great success for students in imparting self- learning. Now, students have become capable of handling laptops and projectors with audio/video material in their pen-drives. Edu-Tech is used for promoting self-study, self-learning, and also thinking skills. Expert teachers from India and abroad are made available for the students through this. The introduction of lectures mixed in English and Hindi has also been helping improve students’ comfort level with the English language. Physics classes for 11th and 12th are being done completely with Edu-Tech [Audio/Video classes] without a dedicated teacher.
  9. The new Physics lab is ready for experiments. 12th-grade students performed an experiment on Optics when the NBCFDC officials visited. NBCFDC has funded the equipment in the lab. There is also a 42” smart TV in the lab for audio/video classes.

School Visit

Last month I had the pleasure of visiting the school. The welcome and warmth I received from the teachers, administration staff, and the students will stay with me forever. After a lovely breakfast, similar to what they feed the primary girls, they had arranged for 2 students from the senior wing to show me around. And then it was taken over by 2 students from the primary wing who showed me the rest of the school. There was a lot of pride in them when they showed me the different facilities and when they talked about their school. It really warmed my heart. The girls had lots of questions for me - my education background, what are the options available, what kind of jobs can they expect, etc. This again reassured me that we are making such a big difference in their lives. For those students who are interested in pursuing their dreams the world is open to them and we at BSPES are there to support them in every way.
