We believe that everyone in Colombia, regardless of their race, gender, or religious affiliation has the right to feel healthy, educated, and safe. An individual's physical & psychological health are critical to their ability to grow economically. Consequently, we aim to help residents in some of Colombia's most vulnerable neighbourhoods to improve their basic nutrition, sanitation, hygiene & education (including sexual).
No one can thrive on an empty stomach. Countless families, seniors, and people with special needs lack the economic resources to secure safe housing. Education is central to securing better employment and life opportunities. In Medellin and Colombia, food security, housing and education are not guaranteed for an overwhelming percentage of the population.
We provide emergency food supplies for the hungry & homeless. We also create sustainable community kitchens that foster participation, inclusion, and healthy nutrition. We help to repair and reenforce roofs, walls, floors, bathrooms and other basic structural and sanitary elements. We create and support specialized education programs that teach English as a second language, and practical skills that help adults get jobs.
In the long term we expect our education programs to provide employment to community members and leaders who will be able to give back and reduce the financial resources needed for emergency food and repair (as they provide those services in the community and increase their income generating opportunities at the same time).
