CJFI Final GlobalGiving Report

By Rodney Z. | Correspondent

Before anything else, we’d like to extend our most heartfelt gratitude for your support on our project “Help Feed and Send to School Poor Kids in the Phil”.

The management and staff of Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc. or CJFI, are very glad to report another meaningful victory and a significant milestone in the history of CJFI operation.

CJFI, founded 22 years ago, remains steadfast in its mission to give love to many destitute children deprived of basic care and protection and to guide their lives to become active contributing members in our society when they reach their maturity.

Just last month, Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc. was awarded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as the BEST NGO for 2019 among the 60,000 NGOs in the Philippines. This prestigious award is given to an NGO whose passion in their vision led them to achieve greater heights through various best practices. For CJFI, this reflects the organization’s deep dedication and commitment in changing the lives of the many poor Filipino children.

The award was given last January 28, 2020 as one of the highlights of the 69th founding anniversary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.  CJFI was congratulated by the current DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista. He commended CJFI for making an impact on the lives of the many poor Filipino children.

Many of the famous personalities in the event also shook hands with the Management Committee who represented CJFI on that day, acknowledging CJFI’s popular community-based projects like the Computer Literacy Program that benefitted hundreds of indigent children and out-of-school youth, the construction and renovation of a number of Day Care Center as its Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) initiative, and most especially, it’s state-of-the-art residential care facility in Davao City.

This year 2020, CJFI is looking forward for momentous achievements all in the name of promoting child protection and welfare.

Here’s what to look forward to this year:

  1. More Day Care Centers – It’s already laid out and the organization has set its eyes on adopting five (5) additional Day Care Centers in Mindanao (southern part of the Philippines). As an Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) initiative, CJFI aims to target a root cause of poverty: poor brain development during the formative years of a child leading to what’s called “Poverty Mindset”
  2. Year-Round Supplemental Feeding Program – One of the drive of CJFI this year is to improve the health of undernourished children in depressed communities. This is also an Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) initiative by CJFI.
  3. Expansion and Accreditation of Computer Literacy Program – With the success of the previous campaign to educate more poor children and out-of-school youth, this year will include not only remote and marginalized LGUs in the Visayas region, but also other NGOs who share the same vision with CJFI in protecting the welfare of poor children.
  4. Improved Disaster Response Management – Philippines, along with other islands and coasts, in the ring of fire, has experienced torrents of earthquake and volcanic eruptions this past few months. CJFI Management, since then, has taken steps to prepare to respond to these calamities when it hit. One important step is to strengthen CJFI’s connections and networks.
