The richness of imagination and the power of inner creativity is evident, proven and usually found in the minds of children today. In the news, we’d be baffled by promising teenage chess Grandmasters taking mature opponents by storm, a number of gifted young virtuosi in music confounding a crowd of divas, songwriters, and musicians, and wonderfully-talented young artists selling thousands of dollars of paintings in different parts of the world.
In Children’s Joy Foundation Inc, not only do we feed and send to school neglected, abandoned or dependent children, they are also taught to express themselves through different forms of art.
Just recently, a Summer Arts Camp themed, “Where Passion and Creativity Meet”, was held for the children at the Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc. Davao Residential Care Home, along with their houseparents and staff.
It was a three-day event where the kids got to enjoy different activities while they showcase their talents.
Alvin, admitted in the foundation at the age of 7, is now making a progress in the board game he loved playing with other beneficiaries in the shelter. He finished 2nd place in chess during the Summer Arts Camp.
Danielle, 8 years old, performed with her team in the cheering competition during the camp. She has developed a love for dancing - cheer dancing in particular.
Kevin opened the Summer Arts Camp 2018 by lighting the torch. He came from Tacloban - an island in the Philippines which was badly hit by the Typhoon Haiyan in 2013. His family who is still recovering from their loss asked CJFI for assistance which was when Kevin was referred to the center.
The Summer Arts Camp is an annual event being conducted in all the residential care facilities of the Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc. for the benefit of the children under its care.
