In eastern DR Congo, thousands of older people have been left alone by conflict, poverty, and displacement. Marie, 74, lost her home and now says, "I only want to feel remembered." This project will honor vulnerable elderly people every year during the International Day of Older Persons by providing food, essential supplies, medical support, trauma healing sessions, and community care. Your donation restores dignity, hope, and human connection.
Armed conflict in eastern DR Congo has left many older people homeless, hungry, isolated, and deeply traumatized. Families have been separated, livelihoods destroyed, and access to healthcare has nearly disappeared. Many elderly survivors live without regular meals, medicine, emotional support, or anyone to care for them. During the International Day of Older Persons, thousands remain forgotten when they should be honored and protected.
Each year, this project will celebrate the International Day of Older Persons across conflict-affected communities in eastern DR Congo. Elderly survivors will receive nutritious food, hygiene kits, clothing, medical assistance, psychosocial counseling, trauma healing sessions, and social activities that rebuild hope and belonging. Every donation directly improves the lives of vulnerable older people while reminding them they are valued, respected, and never forgotten.
This project will create an annual tradition of protecting and honoring older people in eastern DR Congo. Improved nutrition, healthcare, and emotional support will strengthen their health, reduce isolation, and restore dignity. Families and communities will learn to value and care for older generations, helping build a more compassionate society where elderly survivors of conflict are respected, supported, and included for years to come.
