Some good news

When I last wrote to you I had managed to convince myself that the pandemic would be behind us by now. Alas this does not appear to be the case and the uncertainties are still with us. In Lesotho, our girls continue to find themselves periodically stuck at home as schools open and close as the virus more or less dictates. The problems associated with this are many and varied. A number of the girls were due to retake some of their exams next week, but the government has had to get these postponed yet again because of an increase in infection rates. The next exam period will now be in November when we expect another 14 girls to write their end of high school exams. We hope that things will get better soon, but in the meantime we anticipate that our budget will definitely increase as the extra tuition for the retakes will have to continue until the exams take place later in the year.

However, we do have some good news. Out of the blue two of our former beneficiaries emailed to update us on what they are doing now and to say thank you for the support they received.

Mpepuoa says:

I would like to take this chance to thank you for the support you have given me. I am very happy to report that your generous and selfless support made it possible for me to land in tertiary(education). I am additionally pleased to let you know that I am in my remaining months of study at the National University of Lesotho, at the edge of a whole Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies and Public Administration.

Another girl, Ts'epang wrote:

I am currently working towards a BSc (Hons.) in Computing at Botho University (in Lesotho) specializing in Network and infrastructure Engineering. I am in my 4th year and will be graduating in 2022. I wanted to thank you so much for sponsoring me through my high school journey. I am indeed grateful for the opportunity. Really your generosity will never go unappreciated.

These are heart-warming messages that show that in spite of the pandemic, your kind and generous support for these hard-working girls continues to make a huge difference.

I would like to add our thanks to you for your continuing kind support for these girls whose family circumstances would have robbed them of the bright futures they certainly deserve and are capable of achieving.

Warm regards

Liphethiso Monica
