I was hoping that by now the pandemic would be behind us. The arrival of the vaccination programmes brings some hope, but it seems we are not yet out of the woods. In spite of all that, I have some good news to share. The exams that were postponed from the end of 2020 did take place in the last couple of months. I can confirm that the 5 girls who wrote their Year 10 exams have all been successful despite the challenges of the last two school years. Year 12 results are yet to be published, but we dare to hope that this group will also surprise us with good results.
We are still experiencing some challenges with regard to gathering feedback from the students due to the effect of the pandemic lockdowns on schools. I have been lucky to obtain a short note from Ts'epang who is now in her final year of high school. Here's what she says:
I had lost all hope of finishing high school, but thanks to your generosity here I am on the way to doing just that. In spite of the many challenges along the way, you never gave up on me. I now look forward to pursuing my ambition to study nursing at university. I cannot thank you enough!
We are also proud to share Nthabeleng's story. She finished high school in 2018 and is now in her first year of a Bachelor of Law degree programme at the National University of Lesotho. She says:
My mother was unable to afford the required school fees, but with your help, I managed to finish high school and go on to pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer. Without your generous support, I wouldn't have got this far. Thank you very much for your kindness!
I would like to echo the words of thanks expressed by the two girls above. Your continued generous support for Educare Fund is much appreciated as always.
Warm regards
Liphethiso Monica
