Dear Donors,

All Hands and Hearts (AHAH) is collaborating with Uzhhorod University to renovate existing dormitory rooms in two separate buildings to support upgraded living spaces for internally displaced persons (IDP’s) in Zakarpattia Oblast, Western Ukraine.  Each building contains 10 rooms to be rehabilitated in order to provide safe and comfortable accommodation for up to six people per room.

Our volunteers are busy renovating and repairing rooms, performing tasks such as painting, plastering, laying flooring, sanding and installing new doors.  Local electricians rewire each room for new lighting and safe electrical outlets.  As of the end of May, our team has completed 11 rooms - all of which are already housing displaced Ukrainian families - and renovations are nearing completion on three more rooms bringing our Phase I plan to renovate 15 rooms with the goal of housing up to 90 IDP’s in dignity and comfort close to completion.

In addition to our housing scope of work, AHAH has partnered with local and international organizations, such as Blago and Health Right, to provide English club and art sessions for the community. These lively activities continue to gain momentum, with over 200 sessions delivered to date!  They continue to attract immense turnouts from both new and returning faces.  Participants find them invaluable for English practice and feel supported by international volunteers.  Families have been repeatedly attending weekly English clubs together, strengthening bonds within the community and empowering one another while improving their English.

Thank you to all our current and future donors for your interest and support for another high impact housing project in Ukraine!

Christine
