Therapies and explorations for the children at Jonah House restart, including early intervention for the young children and talent courses for the teenagers, because the epidemic is ebbing gradually.
In response toCovid-19 epidemic, Cathwel has created some innovative projects since the second half of last year. To support the women in need financially, who have stayed at Jonah House, we invite them to produce hand-made books for Cathwel so that they’d have more income while raising their children alone.
We keep the importance of epidemic prevention in mind. In the meantime, we continue to assist children in need to get adopted, take care of the children who cannot return to family yet, and accompany single mothers.

After Taiwan has increased the COVID vaccination rate gradually while most Taiwanese people are very cautious about the epidemic, we have returned to normal life step by step. Because Jonah House is a big house where takes care of children 24 hours, all the staff as well as our teenagers have been vaccinated. Schools started in September in Taiwan. Therefore, most of the school aged children have returned to school as normal.
However, we still need maintain the most basic of epidemic prevention, for example, washing hands and wearing masks. At the present stage, Jonah House still has visitor control. Furthermore, the social workers have to meet cases in other places outside.
People in the world are trying to get adapted to the inconvenience caused by the epidemic of COVID-19, and the challenge has not yet ended. Even with the difficulties, Cathwel still keeps working hard for the children in need. We pray for the world!

Impact on lifestyle

Online study
Since COVID-19 outbreak in mid-May in Taiwan, people have experienced the epidemic alert raised to level 3 for the first time. The government announced many restrictions and measures, including wearing mask in public, encouraging work from home, closure of schools and public venues and only take-out service of most restaurants…etc. It has impacted our life deeply.
Students in Taiwan have been studying online at home since two months ago. It was not easy for Jonah House because we needed improve the facilities and internet speed immediately to provide all the school-aged children to use at the same time. The caregivers needed to schedule daily study for the children so that they could follow regularly. The children could only exercise at home by turns while they couldn’t go out…All the works of Cathwel Service, including adoption become more difficult currently.
We believe many people worldwide are fighting the virus, too. May God bless everyone !
