Dear Friends,

A very HAPPY DIWALI to you and your family members from Bal Asha Trust team !

Diwali - Festival of lights, smiles and being with family..

There are many children who are find themselves lost in the big city of Mumbai every day, only few make it back home for Diwali.

We are happy to share Sajid is one of them who will celebrate with his family.

Sajid, 5 a five years old was found by the Mumbai Police wandering alone on the busy streets of Mumbai.  After talking to him they realized that he had run away from home. He did not reveal much of his family background.   They admitted him to a government centre.  Days, weeks and months passed by and yet he gave no information about parents / guardians nor did anyone contact them regarding the child.

The centre contacted the social workers from Bal Asha Trust to know if they could take in Sajid as he may need long term rehabilitation.  Soon Sajid became part of the Bal Asha family.

It did not take much time for Sajid to get into the routine of Bal Asha.  Soon he became comfortable with one of the social workers Ms. Swaroopa.  He told her that he lived in Navi Mumbai area of the Mumbai.  He also shared information about his parents and siblings.

The social worker decided to work on the information and soon contacted police stations and missing persons unit.  Her efforts soon gave results – her family contacted Bal Asha.

They visited Bal Asha and Sajid was delightful to see his parents.  After due diligence by the courts he was physically given in family care.  During this time the social workers of Bal Asha spoke to the family to understand thecircumstances at home and Sajid’s future plan.  Bal Asha team are keen that the family enrolls Sajid in a school program and have assured the family that they will support with him, in case he needs any help!

We could do this as we are sure that you are with us in giving home, education and love to vulnerable children like Sajid in our society.  Thank you.

For the rest of our children in Bal Asha, yes we will celebrate the Diwali.  We are the Bal Asha Family !

To share your Diwali happiness with our children,  please make a donation through Global Giving, Global Giving is running a special Diwali campaign your donation may help us qualify for additional funds for the children.

Thanks & Regards,

Sunil Arora
