Impact 2020 & Happy New Year 2021

By Sunil Arora | Executive Director

Dear GlobalGiving Friends,

Namaste!

Wishing you and your loved ones a Happy New Year 2021!

The most difficult year has just gone by.  This year came with many challenges for everyone accross the world.

Our work requires the team 24 x 7 as we take care of children.  I am proud in sharing that each of our team member became a hero and gave her/his best to ensure our children are safe.  We continued to keep our efforts to help vunerable children through various projects.

Impact 2020

I am proud to share that we supported more than 418 children through our projects.

Our children's home took care of 51 children.  There were 34 children who were older and special needs.   We placed 12 children in Adoption.  Two children were united with their familes.  We served 61,078 meals during the year.  We provided 3,09,744 hours of care to the children and Health checkups and Immunizations were 1,907.

Our other projects also did remarkable work.  We provided grocery support to 2,461 individual as COVID19 relief.  Nutritional packets 24,008 were disbtributed to malnourished children. We supported 74 children with educational sponsorship.  Our child development centre provided 1,103 therapies.

Diwali & Christmas Celebrations

The month of November started with Diwali. The kids wore new clothes, participated in the Dhanteras pooja, burst crackers, lit diyas. The elder girls also helped draw rangoli. They were also taught the significance of the festival. On Children's Day, Sports Day was held for the children. Games like running race, musical chairs & ball in the bucket were played. The kids had lots of fun participating in these games. In the first week of December, we designed a poster to create awareness among the public to stop abandonment of children. This poster was designed for the local office of Department of Women & Child Development. It was also displayed at prominent hospitals to create awareness.

On Christmas morning, the children made Christmas greeting card. In the evening, they dressed up so as to celebrate Christmas. The kids enjoyed the cake they cut, had waffers and then received their gifts.

A family for every child

During the Adoption Awareness week, we conducted a workshop for the children at Bal Asha Trust. We explained the concept of family, love, support etc, which comes with family. They also drew pictures of themselves in a family. We shared pictures of children in the family. They were delighted to see their friends once with them in a family of their own.

Activities

On the third Saturday of the month, the kids received lovely activity kits. A wellwisher made these kits and sent it to the kids. On a Zoom call, they were guided how to do the activity step by step. The kids had a nice time making, friendship bands, book marks all by themselves.

We thank all our donors and supporters for their support.  We hope that you donate in 2021 so that we can continue to do our work for children.
