A Summer to remember!

The months of summer bring about some of the happiest times in a child’s life – their summer vacations! These two months of excitement and joviality have a massive impact on a child’s life, since it helps them break off from their monotonous school routine and helps them to explore different sides of their personality and enhance their creative skills by engaging in a whole melange of activities.

This is exactly how the kids at Bal Asha Trust spent their summer vacation, by getting involved in a variety of activities held as a part of the Summer Fiesta, which are not only meant for the kids to enjoy but also to help the develop their creative abilities.

The months of April and May were filled with a variety of different activities for the children, ranging from drawing, painting, pottery and clay modelling. The kids experimented with different forms of crafts, such as origami and doll making, hence creating exceptional pieces of art.

For the kids to gain exposure to the outside world, many outdoor trips had been arranged for the them. One such trip was to the Magazine Street Kitchen, where the kids gained an insight into the working of a professional kitchen and the amount of hard work it takes to put a lip- smacking dish on our plates later that week they visited a village themed restaurant for lunch.  The kids also visited the Zoo and the Prince of Wales Museum, which took the kids on a trip through time, as they were furnished with knowledge about our ancient country’s past, and that of other countries too. The kids also paid a visit to the Kidzania playpark, where the kids enjoyed playing the roles of actual professionals in a variety of fields and it helped them realise how the adult world works.

In honour of the recent coronation of the King of Thailand, the Thai general Consul of India visited Bal Asha Trust and donated many things which are necessary for taking care of our children. He spent time with the children and applauded the work which is being done here for the past 33 years.

The kids not only enjoyed these activities, but also learnt important lessons which will surely help them in later stages of life. This summer fiesta was enjoyed not only by the children but also by the Bal Asha staff, since they too accompanied kids on their outdoor adventures and assisted them in their indoor activities, thus establishing a strong bond between the adults and the kids.

We had many corporates, such as the Morgan Stanley Group, the Union Bank, DHL, the Giants Group and  the Asian Teachers Association volunteer with Bal Asha and assist the kids in their activities and accompany them on their trips.  The whole Bal Asha team and a wide range of volunteers who have assisted us in every step of this Summer Fiesta are the family of these kids while they are in Bal Asha Trust.

Now, the summer season has passed and schools have reopened. All these trips and activities have been funded by donations of patrons such as yourself. This Grand Summer Fiesta would not have been possible without the patronage of our large-hearted donors.

We politely urge you to donate to Bal Asha so that we continue to serve our mission of providing these wonderful children with care and nourishment.

Thank you!
