On October 30th, EEESMA School for the Deaf proudly celebrated National Deaf Day in Mexico with an extraordinary and inspiring event. We had the great honor of welcoming distinguished leaders and role models from the national Deaf community whose presence filled our school with pride, knowledge, and hope.
Among our special guests were Rodolfo López Espinoza, past President of FEMESOR (Mexican Federation of the Deaf); Hernán Guillermo Aguilar, President of UNSM (National Union of the Deaf in Mexico); and Adriana Sharaí Cayeros, a well-known Deaf influencer and advocate. They shared their experiences, insights, and deep commitment to advancing opportunities for Deaf people throughout Mexico.
Their visit drew alumni, families, and Deaf individuals from across the state of Guanajuato, including Celaya, Comonfort, Guanajuato City, Apaseo el Alto, and Dolores Hidalgo, creating a warm atmosphere of unity and shared purpose.
Throughout the day, our guests led thoughtful discussions on leadership within the Deaf community, parental guidance, and strategies for raising and supporting Deaf children. Their personal stories moved and inspired everyone, urging families to break down barriers that still limit educational access for Deaf children and youth.
The impact of this day will be lasting. Hearts were touched, perspectives were transformed, and new dreams took root. Together, we are building a future that is more inclusive, empowering, and full of promise for all Deaf people in Mexico.
