WE DID IT TOGETHER

By Anthony Richard Hulula | Director/Project Leader

Today, we write to you with full hearts and deep gratitude. We did it—together. The Centre of Love would like to sincerely thank you for standing with us throughout this journey. Out of the many projects on GlobalGiving, you chose ours. You trusted us with your resources, your hope, and your belief in change. And today, we are proud to say: We have delivered.

The vocational training building in Kibera is now complete.

A Milestone Achieved Through Partnership. This building is more than just walls and a roof—it is a symbol of opportunity, dignity, and a second chance for many young people

It will host two critical vocational programs:

  • Electrical Training
  • Plumbing Training

These are practical, income-generating skills that can transform lives—not someday, but immediately.

Understanding the Challenge: Youth Employment Apathy in Kibera

Kibera, one of Africa’s largest informal settlements, faces a growing challenge among young people: employment apathy. Many youths are:

  • Unable to access formal education or training
  • Discouraged after repeated lack of job opportunities
  • Turning away from job-seeking altogether

A Few Realities

  • Youth unemployment in Kenya remains high, estimated at over 35% among young people
  • In informal settlements like Kibera, the rate is often significantly higher
  • Thousands of youth lack access to practical, employable skills

This has led to:

  • Loss of hope
  • Increased vulnerability to crime and substance abuse
  • A cycle of poverty that continues across generations

Our Response: Skills That Restore Hope

At the Centre of Love, we believe the solution lies in skills, dignity, and opportunity. This new vocational building is our answer. Through electrical and plumbing training, we are:

  • Equipping youth with hands-on, employable skills
  • Creating pathways to self-employment and entrepreneurship
  • Restoring confidence and purpose

Vocational training has proven to:

  • Increase employability significantly
  • Enable youth to earn sustainable incomes
  • Reduce dependency and social vulnerability

What’s Next: Equipping the Dream

While the building is complete, the journey is not over. We are now seeking your support to:

  • Purchase tools and equipment for electrical training
  • Acquire plumbing kits and materials
  • Provide training resources for students

Without these tools, the building cannot fully serve its purpose. With your support, we can bring this space to life.

Your Impact Matters

  • No amount is too small.
  • A small contribution can buy a tool
  • A larger one can equip a full training station
  • Together, they create lifelong opportunities

Every donation you make:

  • Opens a door for a young person
  • Builds a future
  • Restores hope in Kibera

Final Word of Thanks

You believed in us. You walked with us. And you made this possible.

From the bottom of our hearts: Thank you for helping us build not just a structure, but a future.
