Help communities to conserve Peru's Dry Forests

Dear Friends,

It is time to bring you up to date with the work we are doing in the Dry Forests of La Libertad. This time, we will give you a short summary of the work we have done in 2026 so far.

• We have produced over 310 native trees, to be planted on communal and private land, in order to revive the natural ecosystem.
• We have distributed more than 680 trees to smallholder farmers, villagers and a local company, in order to bring back life to their farms, gardens and terrains.
• We have conducted 3 Assisted Natural Regeneration Campaigns, regenerating several hectares of Dry Forest.
• The ARPE team and village forest rangers have conducted over 90 patrols, in which several people were stopped from illegally cutting trees and a wildfire was stopped. The rangers also explained people they are only allowed to cut dead branches.
• 12 villagers where trained on how to use the more efficient cookstoves that were installed in their homes by the project.
• 2 workshops on organic pest control were organised for smallholder farmers.
• 2 workshops on environmental education and 7 visits to the ecoclub.

For the coming months, we will focus on environmental education for children and adults, more Assisted Natural Regeneration campaigns and training sessions for communal organisations on how to cope with climate change.
