Pandemic Update from CIWY

Dear Supporters,

Nearly 350 of you have contributed to this call for help during the Covid crisis, and you’ve raised over $50,000!

A year has passed since our last report on this project. We could not have predicted that the world would still be struggling with Covid-19. The situation at CIWY’s sanctuaries has improved somewhat – we now have a few international volunteers returning, although it still falls far short of pre-pandemic numbers. CIWY’s income is still nowhere near its normal level, and we have depended on outside support to keep the sanctuaries operating.

Help has come from a few large funders: the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust in the UK sent another £5,000 in March, to help CIWY weather the crisis. Our long-time supporters at the International Primate Protection League sent $10,000 in August, in addition to the $5,000 they send every year to support CIWY’s primates. Other organisations have contributed towards new construction at Jacj Cuisi and fire protection at Ambue Ari.

CIWY’s number one source of support, however, is YOU. Individual donors and animal sponsors, contributing $10 to $100 at a time, have kept our rescued animals safe and fed over the most difficult time in CIWY’s history. THANK YOU!

Kindest regards,

The CIWY and FIWY teams

PS. We hope to see you on Giving Tuesday, coming up on November 30! Donations up to $2,500 USD per unique donor will earn Incentive Funds from GlobalGiving!
