Dear GlobalGiving community,
In one room, children are leaning over tables covered with paper, beads, pencils, clay, and craft supplies.
Some are focused quietly on what they are making. Some are sitting close to friends. One boy holds up a handmade heart with a small sun drawn inside. Behind him, other children are working, talking, and creating.
These are simple moments. But for children in Ukraine, simple moments can mean so much.
After years of air raids, displacement, uncertainty, and fear, many children have had pieces of childhood interrupted. Some have struggled with sleep, anxiety, concentration, and a constant feeling that danger could return at any moment. Children need safety, routine, trusted adults, and places where they can express what they are carrying inside.
That is why Hope For Ukraine’s A Child’s Smile Program continues to provide creative safe spaces, emotional support, educational activities, and moments of normal childhood for children affected by the war.
The photos in this update show what your support helps make possible.
Children gather around art tables and work with their hands. A boy proudly shows what he created. Other children sit together, making crafts and learning in a room filled with color, shelves of artwork, and signs of care.
Art gives children a way to speak when words are hard.
A drawing can hold fear, hope, memory, or joy. A craft project can help a child focus on something peaceful. A classroom can become a place where children remember what it feels like to laugh, learn, make friends, and feel safe.
Through A Child’s Smile Program, more than 600 children are reached weekly through after-school programs that offer creative healing, connection, and support. These programs give children access to art supplies, caring instructors, learning activities, and dependable spaces where they can create and belong.
This support matters because the impact of war on children is not always visible.
A child may smile and still be carrying fear.
A child may sit quietly and still need comfort.
A child may draw a sun because they are looking for light.
Your generosity helps make sure these children are not left alone with what they have experienced. It helps provide safe creative spaces, art and school supplies, supportive instructors, camps, community activities, warmth, essentials, and moments that bring children back to childhood.
Every bead, brush, pencil, and sheet of paper can become part of healing.
Every safe room gives a child space to breathe.
Every caring program reminds a family that their child has not been forgotten.
Thank you for helping children in Ukraine create, learn, connect, and smile again.
With gratitude,
Hope For Ukraine
