Help Children Access Education in Rural Nigeria

Project Report

Over the past few months, the Cal-Maji Foundation has continued its mission of transforming lives through education in rural North Central Nigeria. Asma’u Academy, our tuition-free community school, now serves over 150 children—many of whom are orphaned, vulnerable, or girls who would otherwise have no access to formal education.

Progress and Impact

Our recent efforts focused on improving classroom infrastructure and enhancing access to learning materials. Thanks to the support of our donors, we were able to:

Provide 50 students with new school uniforms and essential school supplies.

Install solar-powered lighting in three classrooms, allowing after-school study sessions.

Launch a pilot digital literacy program using donated laptops and offline learning software.

These changes have not only improved academic engagement but also inspired greater community participation. Parents now see education as a viable path out of poverty for their children.

Student Spotlight

Amina, a 12-year-old girl from a nearby village, had never set foot in a classroom until she joined Asma’u Academy two years ago. Today, she reads fluently in English, excels in mathematics and dreams of becoming a nurse. Stories like Amina's remind us why this work matters.

Looking Ahead

In the coming months, we plan to expand our digital learning tools and offer teacher training workshops to improve classroom instruction. We’re also prepared for the rainy season by repairing school roofs and ensuring safe, dry learning spaces for our students.
