A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Mothers' shelter campaign.
With your help we have been able to begin construction of a mothers' shelter at Kanyanga Rural Health Post. We hope to have completed construction within a 16 week time frame, at which point we will be looking to procure beds, mattresses, bedding and equipping the facility so that expectant mothers can travel in advance of their due date and stay in a comfortable environment at the facility.
The facility is up to 40km from some of the rural communities in the catchement area, and there are limited means of transport. As a result expectant mothers are often unable to travel to the facility once they are in labour.
