Help Cancer Patients Pay for Travel Expenses!

This week, GlobalGiving community celebrates Giving Week.  It's a way to celebrate this year's achievements and set new targets.  To reconnect with our supporters and tell the stories of people who asked for our help.  Even though our connection is virtual, it is important to remember that our efforts make a difference to real patients in real life. 

For example, this week we will be supporting Nadia's family whose story we told in the last report.  As she began a new school year, her family is once again struggling to get her there on time and to bring her to the hospital when she returns for treatment.  Our grant will allow the family to afford lodging in a more convenient location.

In addition, we recently paid for airfare for a lymphoma patient from Tajikistan who needed to travel to Russia to access treatment with promising new therapy, and for a colon cancer patient from Uzbekistan to travel to India to obtain medications unavailable in his home country.  Unfortunately, many former Soviet Union countries remain decades behind in cancer treatment, and for some patients travel is the only way to access quality care. 

If you would like to support our efforts, join us on Thursday's Bonus Day on October 5th! On this day, $50,000 Incentive Fund will be available to share by all donations received that day. Our share will be determined by what percentage of the total funds we raise on Bonus Day.   For example, if we raise 5% of the total dollars raised on Bonus Day, we will be awarded 5% – or $2,500 – of the Incentive Fund. This means that donations will count throughout the entire day - from 9:00:01 EDT on Thursday, October 5th, 2017, to 23:59:59 EDT on October 5th, 2017.
