Help Cancer Patients Pay for Travel Expenses!

Our project is approaching 50% completion, and we have received over 300 donations to date!   We are so grateful for support we are receving for the patients.  So far this year, we were able to support six cancer patients who needed to travel abroad for treatment. 

Who Are We Helping?

Seven-year-old Nadia has been fighting cancer for almost 5 years. In 2012 she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of aggressive childhood cancer, and since then she has been treated with chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries and stem cell transplant. Unfortunately, her cancer continued to recur. After exhausting treatments available in her native Ukraine, Nadia's parents took her to a specialized neuroblastoma treatment center in Greifswald, Germany. There they are able to access a new type of treatment with antibodies that is more effective at preventing relapse. Between treatment cycles Nadia goes to school and studies German. Her favorite subjects are music and math. Nadia's parents are hoping for the best, and are doing all they can to help Nadia. Due to financial difficulties they had to rent an apartment far away from the hospital. The family is hoping to raise funds to move closer to the medical center, which they visit almost daily.

How to Help

On Wednesday, July 12th, GlobalGiving will offer bonus funds as part of GG Rewards Bonus Day.  This is the only time during the year that all donations up to $1,000 will be matched at 50% (while the $110,000 in matching funds remain). Also, all day long there will be a 100% match on new recurring donations and, at the end of Bonus Day, the projects with the most funds raised and the most donors secured will each receive a $1,000 bonus prize. Additional prizes include social media promotion, homepage time, and a feature in GlobalGiving donor newsletter.
