Ilkham is nine and comes from Kazakhstan. In 2018 he was hospitalized with acute pain in the abdominal area. After a bone marrow aspiration biopsy, CT and MRI examinations, he was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer, nephroblastoma. He urgently underwent preoperative chemotherapy, and then surgery to remove the tumor and the kidney affected. It was followed by 14 days of radiation therapy, and postoperative 34 weeks of high-dose chemotherapy according to the Wilms-Tumor-SIOP-2001 protocol. Unfortunately, Ilkham had relapses in 2020-2022, and then had two surgeries on the right and left lungs, 13 blocks of anti-relapse chemotherapy and autologous bone marrow transplantation.
In 2023, Ilkham was diagnosed with a 4th relapse. At that time, treatment options in Kazakhstan were no longer promising, so Ilkham's family decided to continue treatment in Turkey. On August 9, 2023, Ilham was admitted at Emsey Hospital and his treatment began in the pediatric department of Hematology. The treatment caused some complications, including ileus, which required another surgery. After many years of treatment, the family's financials resources were exhaused and they relied on support from friends and family and the kindness of strangers. They were very grateful for our support for Ilkham, and in turn to everyone who donated to this project. Thank you for your care and support for patients like Ilkham! Please remember to support our project next week, on April 8-12, during Little by Little campaign. All eligible donations up to $50 per unique donor will be matched at 50% during the campaign, until funds run out.
Thanks again!
