Hello, Friend! Thank you for supporting the AIDS Response Effort's LGBTQ+ Center. While we haven't raised quite enough money to start our much-needed renovation, we have been making a positive impact on the LGBTQ+ community in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.
The Center now hosts eight affinity/support groups for all ages and persuasions, as well as a regular lineup of social activities, including Game Night, Potluck on the Patio, Coffee and Coloring and more. Word is spreading, and we are eager to start busting down walls to create more space for everyone who wants to be part of the Center.
We also planted a second season of our community garden, which is already producing bountiful crops of vegetables, despite the recent heat wave. The fresh produce is given away to anyone in need in the community and will be a much-needed addition to the LGBTQ+ food pantry at the center (due to open in July).
We are in hopes that we can start the first phase of our Center renovation by September. We still have another $20,000 to raise. You can help us greatly by sharing our project URL with your network and encouraging your friends and family to support us. Just copy and paste this link: Help Build an LGBTQ+ Center in Rural NW Virginia - GlobalGiving. Together, we can build a thriving LGBTQ+ community in the NSV!
Thank you again for your support, and please consider becoming a recurring donor.
With deep gratitutde,
Nancy and the ARE LGBTQ+ Center Team
