On September 16, 25 more political prisoners were released in Belarus. BYSOL opened an emergency fundraiser the same day, with one rule: every released person who applies receives at least €1,000 as a first payment. The goal was €25,000. You went past it quickly, and by the end of September the campaign had raised €37,000. It stays open until October 16. Payouts started in the last week of September.
This is our fourth emergency campaign for released prisoners in twelve months. In September 2025 we raised €111,000 for 52 people. December brought €260,000 for more than 120, and in March you gave €104,000 in just 15 days. Altogether, more than half a million euros has gone straight to people in their first weeks of freedom. For many of them, it was the first sign that they had not been forgotten.
The summer months had no mass releases. The work went on anyway. From June to August BYSOL paid €67,000 to 67 political prisoners and their families. Our evacuation team got 17 people out of Belarus, 8 of them in July alone, and some of those departures needed complex, multi-stage routes. The hotline gave 489 consultations. We closed 46 personal fundraisers: rent for families who lost their main earner, medical treatment, legal help. In June and August alone they raised more than €85,000.
Every summer we run a children's campaign before the school year: €100 for each child of a political prisoner, whether the parent is still in prison or already free. This year the goal was €10,000. We paid €18,100 to 181 children in 111 families, in Belarus and abroad, including several large families. For them, September 1 was a little easier. Part of the money came from a charity auction and a raffle at a public screening of the World Cup final in Warsaw, which about 400 Belarusians attended. The Belarusian community organization Talaka in Denmark made a significant contribution. The next children's campaign will be at Christmas.
Many of the people we help are still inside Belarus. They can't donate or speak about us publicly, but they watch. Over 90% of our TikTok audience is now in Belarus. For them, what matters is knowing that BYSOL exists and that it is safe to reach out. Thank you for making sure someone is there when they do.
