Help Aria Bring Digital Reading to Kids in India
![]()
Dear Supporter,
Access to digital reading has never been more important; incorporating digital learning into education is now the norm and brings Worldreader new opportunities to make a difference for more children around the world. As of today, Worldreader has reached over 20 million readers in 76 countries across six global regions: East Africa, West Africa, Middle East & North Africa, South Asia, Latin America, and the United States.
Worldreader is working with local schools across India to train teachers on digital learning tools and is providing students with access to our free BookSmart app with hundreds of culturally-relevant digital books through our Read to Kids program. Read to Kids India is designed to promote emergent literacy and school readiness of pre-primary children and foundational literacy among early grade children in India. The program encourages parents, teachers, and caregivers to read aloud to their children by giving families and schools access to a digital library of books via their mobile phones and tablets.
The goals are two-fold. First, is a focus on behavior change: to raise awareness of the value of reading to young children, encourage a culture of reading at the household level, and get parents reading frequently to their children. Second, is a focus on teachers: to equip and build the capacity of teachers in order for them to leverage digital reading in preschool and early grade classrooms.
Please spread the word to your friends and families to help bring our digital reading program to an 11th Anganwadi. We are halfway there!
