Airlink is mobilizing nonprofit and logistics partners to reach communities in northern Nepal after Wednesday morning's catastrophic flash flood. Extensive damage to critical infrastructure from floodwaters that reached as high as 270 feet left roadways, bridges, and buildings swept away in some communities. Immediate needs include Search and Rescue teams, emergency supplies, and building access to affected areas.
On August 26, 2026, catastrophic flash floods struck northern Nepal, critically damaging infrastructure from floodwaters that reached as high as 270 feet. Over a thousand people are missing and entire villages-homes, roads, bridges, power grids-were swept away or buried by torrential floods and mudslides.
Given the communities struck are at high elevation, with few airlift options to reach them, and main thorough fares remain buried, this response will be challenging. However, Airlink is uniquely positioned to get aid into Nepal, with experience and local partners from flood responses in 2024 and 2025, and the 2015 earthquake. We are actively coordinating our nonprofit and logistics partners to distribute vital resources to remote, flood-affected communities.
