We introduced you to Joan in October of 2023. Here is a short recap and an update.
When Joan was born in 2014, her mother died during childbirth and her father was unknown. Joan was brought to a local orphanage for care in her earliest years.
In 2016 a Christian education worker, Grace, adopted Joan. Grace earned only a minimal salary, but her brother promised to help support Joan’s schooling. This arrangement worked for a few years, but unfortunately, Grace’s brother passed away suddenly in July of 2019. In 2020, Grace also found herself with responsibilities for her ailing mother and two nephews from her deceased brothers. Without family support, she turned to GLK Student Fund for assistance with Joan’s schooling.
Joan is a charming and sunny little girl, who just recently has been diagnosed with a form of epilepsy. She has recently completed her Standard 4 national exams. She studies diligently at Lake View School and produces good academic reports. Our visits with her are always positive and heart-warming. Her need of our support is clear and we are happy to have supported Joan since 2020.
Thank you for your gifts which help Joan get a good education!
