The help a child get back to school project was created to support children living with disabilities, rescued children and orphans living in informal settlements. Since the project started The Ngao Foundation has managed to select 10 (9 girls and 1 boy) vulnerable students for support for September, October and November. We also managed to provide lunch to 15 primary school children, through the donations given. During this period, through your donations, we have managed to provide shopping, tuition fees, uniforms and other stationeries for these students. Also, The Ngao Foundation managed to secure full scholarships for three students namely Whitney, Konkwa and Logan through your kind donation.
During this period 5 students(2 male and 3 female) recently joined TVETs instates to study for various technical courses such as electrical engineering, plumbing, cosmetology and procurement. We also had one candidate who graduated with a diploma in cosmetology and now she managed to secure a job, this couldn’t have happened without your support as our donor.
Psychosocial support has also been provided to these students. They attend guidance and counselling sessions Mondays and Thursdays every week. They also go through the mentorship program, this program aims to help them cope with life challenges and come up with solutions when needed.
One of the biggest challenges that we have faced is insufficient funds to support these children. Among the 16 available students, only three have managed to secure a full scholarship at the moment. No child should sit at home due to a lack of tuition fees.
