Youngs in Contact, the new wonderful project

By Yolima Mendez | Project Leader

Through your contribution we can help to achieve the goals of more young people with cancer!

The Colombian Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation has a group of more than 50 young people, who are in active treatment or who have survived the disease. They are an example for others; Some of them have assumed greater leadership and every week they go to the hospitals and give testimony to other teenagers who are newly diagnosed.

The visits not only include messages of hope and optimism, they also make young people hospitalized joyful through music, dance, art therapy proposals, workshops and other ideas, with the aim of make more comfortable their stay at the hospital.

One of the workshops that took place at the end of 2018 was the photography workshop facilitated by photographer Julián Betancur. He shared with the teenagers in each of the occasions and the development in a very emotional class, with his professional camera, motivating them to capture unforgettable moments.

Furthemore, you can also know about the "Patch Friday project". In the last activity we went to the cinema, each of them with a companion, we also went to eat something together and shared wonderful experiences. It is comforting for all times of everyday life.

We have also created a group on WhatsApp with all the members, in order to be in contact and share daily experiences; For example, some write messages of encouragement and strength and others appreciate it.

What do you think of this project? How do you think we could improve it?
