Teenage Mothers Still Face Barriers to Education

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your continued support of the Help 65 Teenage Mothers Return to School in Kano project. Every contribution received so far is a reminder that there are people who believe young mothers deserve a second chance at education.

Although donations have started coming in, the funds available at this stage are still too limited to begin project activities. More support is needed before we can start enrolling beneficiaries and providing the educational assistance planned under this project.

In Kano, many teenage mothers still face enormous obstacles when they try to return to school. Beyond the challenge of school fees, they must also deal with childcare responsibilities, social stigma, and pressure from family and community members. For many, returning to the classroom feels almost impossible even when they have the desire to continue their education.

Our goal is to support 65 young mothers with school fees, uniforms, books, learning materials, mentoring, and basic childcare arrangements that will allow them to attend classes regularly. We also plan to provide life-skills sessions that will help them balance motherhood with their educational goals.

At the moment, preparations for beneficiary identification and enrollment remain on hold while we continue to seek additional support. We are eager to move forward because every academic term missed makes it harder for these young women to resume their studies.

Thank you for standing with teenage mothers who are determined to continue their education despite difficult circumstances. We look forward to sharing progress updates, beneficiary stories, and photographs as soon as implementation begins.

With sincere appreciation,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
