Enabling children to fully enjoy their rights is the goal of most countries worldwide. In some countries, a specific day is set aside for children's activities. In Haiti, this is the second Sunday of June. The Limyè Lavi Foundation never lets this day go unnoticed. This year, they organized a series of activities with children's clubs in Talui (a community within the Fonds Jean Noël communal section of Marigot/Jacmel). More than 200 people (children, youth, and adults) participated. The children danced, sang, performed spoken word poetry, and presented plays that satirized the socio-economic, political, and cultural realities of the country.
During the previous term, the facilitators led sex education sessions for club members and encouraged them to prioritize their academic pursuits. Children who achieve the best grades at the end of the school year will be rewarded. The top performers will each receive a goat. They will also be trained in goat farming. These children will then each give a kid to another child who has good grades for the upcoming academic year. This activity will be continued within the community.
