A huge thank you to those supporters who have already given, we have reached the goal of getting our project page on Global Givings international website. We'd really love to get our target of £12,000 ensuring all families with children in treatment get the financial help they need. Here is a mum's story which illustrates the need for further financial support.
Since our daughter Rosie (1 year 8 months) was diagnosed 13 months ago we have had to travel a lot. We live in Cirencester and at first treatment was quite local - Bristol (41.3 miles each way) and Gloucester (17.8 miles each way)
But now we are having to travel to Birmingham Children’s hospital and over night at least once (76.5miles each way) and we have to pay £60 in fuel each time too as well as parking and food. The time away from our other 2 children, it doesn't seem like much but with 3 children and a house & car to run its become quite a struggle.
During Rosie's chemotherapy she became very ill (she was 7 months old) my husband was taking a lot of unpaid leave which has resulted in unemployment. We got in to a bit of debt and nearly lost our home. I don't think the financial impact is talked about enough, having a child with cancer is hard enough with out the financial burden on top of it x
