Back On The Road In Ubon!

Dear Supporters,
Sawadee ka!
After having our wings clipped for the last two years by the pandemic, we’re happy to report that we’re back on the road in Ubon Ratchathani. We conducted ‘Claim Your Rights’ workshops in schools for over 150 underprivileged high school girls in the province in August.
During the workshops, the girls were taught life-saving skills to protect themselves from sexual harassment and violence. Our sessions covered Awareness and Prevention of Danger, Basic Self-Defense and Women’s Law and Rights in Thailand. The workshopswere fun and interactive as we employed a lot of games to keep the girls engaged. The participating schools and students were so pleased with our work that some have indicated they would like us back next year. Hopefully, with more support from you and no further lockdowns, we will see them again. So if you’re looking at gifting to a good cause, remember us!
Thank you.

An Exciting Summer Coming Up!

Dear Supporters,
Sawadee ka!
Hope you all have been well. With the progressive lifting of Covid-19 restrictions in Thailand, we are pretty hopeful that we can run our project in northeast Thailand in the coming months. It will be an exciting summer again. Just a quick recap, we will be conducting our ‘Claim Your Rights’ workshop for underprivileged high school girls in Ubon Ratchathani province. The training will equip them with the life-saving skills they need to protect themselves from sexual harassment and violence. It covers the following:
- Awareness of and Prevention of Danger: Raise awareness of a range of risks (including relationships, harassment, financial dependency, pregnancy and online grooming), tactics for avoiding the dangers and ways to deal with any incidents.
- Basic Self-Defense: Training in basic moves, such as wrist grabs, lapel grabs, and protection on the ground.
- Women’s Law and Rights: Raise awareness of the laws relevant to women, such as reporting domestic violence or assault to the police, and provide resources they need if they are unsure.
Our training is designed to be engaging with lots of games, multimedia resources and role playing. Not surprising, we received overwhelmingly positive feedback in past workshops. Most of our trainees found the sessions to be highly practical and interesting.
If you like to support our project, please consider gifting to our cause.
Thank you!

Sawasdeepeemai! Happy New year2022

Dear supporters,
Happy New Year! We hope 2022 will be better for all of you.
We were, and still are, affected by the Covid pandemic which disrupted our training for at-risk high school girls in northeast Thailand. We remain hopeful that we can return to that part of the kingdom this year as the need is pressing. Violence against women and girls remains a significant problem in Thailand. According to the Office of Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), there has been a marked increase in domestic violence. According to a survey conducted in 40 districts in nine provinces, 34.6% of all households reported family violence cases in 2017. This increased to 42.2% in 2020. One of the survey findings also found that domestic violence victims often did not know where to get help. Our training on physical and mental self-defence is meant to address this need.
We’re are over $23,000 away from our target funding for this project to train 5,000 underprivileged girls. If you share our aspiration to protect at-risk high school girls in Thailand, do consider gifting to our cause. Once again, thank you and stay safe!
Best regards,
Pratthanadee Team
