To our GlobalGiving donors:

We are happy to inform you that since this project was launched in mid-2015 we have reached almost half way of our target of 500 children to be given with computer lessons of basic computer applications. Our capacity has been enhanced with the three mobile computer laboratories penetrating the interior communities in the Philippine countryside. We will endeavor to complete our target by the end of 2017. With the support coming from you our valued donors, we can do it.

The computer education nowadays is very important to school curriculum as we are now in the era of computer age where almost everything we do incorporates a computer unit.  In the Philippines, computer education is not yet widely spread out to students particularly in public schools especially in rural areas.  About 60-70% of public schools don’t have a single computer unit.  Furthermore, 3 to 4 public school teachers out of 5 teachers lacked knowledge in using a computer.

Cherrevie, an eight year old Grade 3 pupil is one of the recipients of this project.  Her mother Catherine described her as a responsible child.  While her father and mother are out from their house to earn their living, she takes care of her young sibling. She has been longing to learn how to use a computer unit and the importance of it in her study.

Cherrevie is an intelligent child. She is diligent in her studies of her lessons.  From Grade I to Grade II, she always belong to the top of her class.  When she learned that there would be free computer lessons that would be done in their barangay, she immediately told her mother to let her join.

Her mother said, that Cherrevie is every excited every Saturday to attend her computer lessons.  Friday evening, she would prepare herself, sleep early and prepare her clothing.  That is how she expressed her interest and enthusiasm.  She was very thankful that she was able to complete the basic computer lessons.  Her dream is fulfilled and she is happy because she has now the basic knowledge on how to use a computer unit, fortunately a laptop one which is latest in design and usability.

“Salamat kaayo sa inyong pagtudlo ng computer sa amin.  Nang dahil dito may alam na ako sa computer” said Cherrevie (Thank you very much for teaching us computer. Because of this, I have knowledge about computer).  Her mother also conveyed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity given to her child.  “Maraming salamat po sa Children’s Joy Foundation” said Catherine, mother of Cherrevie with a smile (Thank you very much Children’s Joy Foundation).

Raymart has been very thankful for his learnings he acquired from computer sessions. He thank CJFI for getting him out from the squatter’s area and physical abused from his biological mother.  He was longing to go to school but he seemed hopeless because of poverty.  CJFI put him in one of CJFI’s residential centers and give him the opportunity to go to school.   He’s now 9 years of age and still in Grade 1 but the boy is very happy in his new home and enjoying computer lessons.  Asked what he feels now, Raymart answered in a high tone “Masayang-masayang po Kuya!"  I am very happy Kuya.

Our valued donors, with your donations to support this noble undertaking, you are increasing our capacity and assured us to continue this project even longer to reach out more kids in rural areas.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
