Schooling with anxiety and worry

Twelve children sponsored through Nenkashe Education Centre returned to school in May 2021 in the middle of the pandemic with a lot of anxiety.  Many of our children are anxious because they fell behind in their schoolwork due to lack of technical e-learning equipment at their homes. Our children do not have computers, smart phones and television sets to help them log in to e-learning platforms set up by the government and private schools during the long time that schools were closed.

When the schools finally opened, our children and their parents have expressed fear that they may be exposed to the virus as many children have to travel all over the country to reach their schools. The school curriculum has become shorter as the government tries to accommodate learning amidst Covid-19 challenges.

Parents throughout the country complained that mid-term break came only after 10 weeks of learning and this will add to their financial burdens, as they will have to cover travel costs and pocket money upon the return of the children to school.

When schools opened in May 2021, Nenkashe Education Centre spent $600 for school fees and travel costs, bought textbooks and personal effects for the 12 children and encouraged them by telling them not to fear because many children in the country are facing similar circumstances and that life will get back to normal soon.

We thank our sponsors for their donations that have enabled our children to resume their studies when many parents are having difficulty putting their children through school.  We uphold you in prayer and cherish your prayers for the safety of our children as they learn in faraway schools.

Stay safe!
